What is a Service Schedule?
If you’re looking to find an easy way to stay up-to-date with your Compass’s routine maintenance, then it’s beneficial to follow a service schedule! A service schedule will map out the various services that your car should receive, and let you know the proper mileage at which to schedule them. Gauging your service based on mileage rather than time makes things a little easier, as everyone has slightly different driving habits, and might take a different amount of time to accrue the same amount of mileage. By following a service schedule, you’ll be making sure that your Compass receives all the proper services at the proper point in its lifetime. Read on as we break down our example of a service schedule for the Jeep Compass!
Jeep Compass Service Schedule
7,500 Miles
For most drivers, you will rack up about 7,500 miles on your odometer within the first six months of ownership. At this point, it’s time for your 7,500-mile service appointment! This appointment will lay the foundation for a healthy car, and set you up for success down the line. At this point, you’ll want to get an oil change, and a tire rotation. These will become the two most common services that your car will receive, and you’ll want to repeat them roughly every 7,500 miles going forward. Keep in mind that certain driving conditions will require you to get an oil change more often, including towing, off-roading, or even driving in high temperatures. If you have these driving habits, check in with your mechanic to see how often you should change your oil!
20,000 Miles
Next up, we’ll be filling you in on your 20,000-mile appointment! As we mentioned above, oil changes and tire rotations should occur roughly every 7,500 miles, so keep in mind that those services will have happened in the meantime. At this point, your mechanic will want to inspect your brake linings, and your suspension. They will also change your air conditioning filter so that your cabin air stays fresh and clean. Finally, your mechanic will inspect your CV joints, and make any replacements that your Compass might need.
30,000 Miles
In another 10,000 miles, it’s time for your next service appointment! Again, you will have gotten an oil change and a tire rotation in-between this appointment, and your 20,000-mile service. Once your odometer reads 30,000 miles, it’s time to take your Compass into our service center, and have your mechanic set you up with a new set of spark plugs. They will also change your engine air filter, and make any other necessary repairs or adjustments to help nip potential problems in the bud. After this, you can come back at the 40,000-mile mark, and repeat the same maintenance that occurred at your 20,000-mile appointment!
60,000 Miles
The next checkpoint we’ll be discussing is the 60,000-mile mark! This appointment is an opportunity for you and your mechanic to revisit many of the services that were performed at your previous appointments. Specifically, you’ll repeat the services of your 20,000-mile appointment, and your 30,000-mile appointment. This means that at 60,000 miles, your mechanic will be inspecting your brake linings, suspension, and CV joints. They’ll also replace the air conditioning filter, the engine air filter, and your spark plugs. Some new things that will occur at this point are a power transfer unit fluid change, as well as an automatic transmission fluid change if need be.
100,000 Miles and Beyond!
By the time your odometer reads 100,000 miles, you will have had years of experience in caring for your Jeep Compass, and setting up regular service appointments will feel like second nature! If you stay up-to-date with your regular maintenance and service, you’ll be able to enjoy your Jeep Compass well beyond 100,000 miles. At this appointment, your mechanic will take care of a few key services, such as replacing your engine coolant. They will also repeat certain services, such as inspecting your CV joints. Lastly, they’ll inspect your PVC valve. At this point, if you haven’t replaced your tires, it’s definitely time to invest in a new set! You can also take this opportunity to ask about any other services or replacements that your mechanic might recommend for your specific vehicle.
