Ram Truck Towing Technology

Explained by Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram

Ram trucks have reached an awe-inspiring point in their evolution, being the most capable the company has ever produced that do not require a commercial driver’s license. Boasting a maximum towing capacity of 20,000 pounds when equipped with the available 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, there has never been a job that a Ram truck couldn’t handle. When you tow with Ram trucks and vans, you’re not just towing with power. You’re towing with advanced, innovative features that allow you to hook up to your trailer with ease and stay in control while on the road. Ram trucks are some of the most capable and powerful trucks on the market. Below are some of the most important and most popular features used when hitching up a trailer.

Air Suspension System

Ram trucks' available air suspension systems can make hitching up gooseneck, fifth wheel, and conventional trailers easy. Ram’s Auto-Level Rear Air Suspension includes a Bed Lowering Mode, which brings the rear suspension to its lowest position for easy trailer hook-up.

Cargo View and Backup Cameras

Ram trucks offer two auxiliary cameras that display what’s behind the trailer while on the move. The cargo view and backup cameras also assist with properly lining up your hitch and trailer. These cameras display on the massive screen in the center console.

Tow Mirrors

Ram has mounted their Trailer Tow Mirrors with Spotter Lamps on arms that can be folded out, giving you a comprehensive and clear view when towing a trailer, virtually eliminating blind spots.

Blind Spot Monitoring

Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection scans the blind spot zones beside and behind the vehicle to help ensure trailer safety while maneuvering. This system can automatically sense and account for the length of the trailer

Trailer Reverse Steering Control

The available Trailer Reverse Steering Control, also known as TRSC, streamlines the trailer reversing process by allowing you to use the Trailer Steering knob located in the center console to easily steer your trailer in the direction as you back up. At the same time, the system controls the truck’s steering wheel.
